Mii tries out the Wii

Yesterday I was finally able to play this bad boy.... and it seems I wasn't the only one....
Never thought you'd see a granny playing video games now did you?
Anyways my verdict??? Yea its good! Not as great asI thought it'd be but still enjoyable. It's only at the beginning of its journey and hopefully by next year there will be a better selection of games. I was able to get my hands on Wii Sports, a game included with the Wii itself and serves as a way to introduce players to the Wii. Any good??? Well yes and no. The game includes baseball, bowling, boxing, golf and tennis.
Baseball is pretty simple, swing the remote like the bat and then on the other side re-enact the pitching motion to throw the ball. Simple but not that fun.
Bowling is quite good, just follow the motions as if you're actually bowling and include any curl you might want in your throw.
Boxing is good if you have the nunchuck attached and playing against someone else who has the remote and the nunchuck. So you have the nunchuck in one hand and the remote in the other...start slugging but also remember to block as well.
Golf was quite annoying actually. I'd do the motions but sometimes it just wouldn't pick up but you could see the potential if they get this right next time.
Fianlly tennis. Prolly the most fun out of the 5 games. Don't really have to say how to play this do i?
I also got my hands on this. Red Steel. A first person shooter which looks fun but wasn't as intuitive as I first imagined. You use the nunchuck to move your character and the remote as your gun. Turn the remote sideways like a gangsta and what happens? That's right the gun turns sideways which is quite cool. So basically move with the nunchuck, point and shoot with the remote. I played this for about 30 mins and it was pretty hard to get used to but once I did, I had a blast.

My week

I've been a bit slow on the updates this week because of uni. This post is gonna be different to the others seeing as I haven't had the chance to research the usual music or movie news I'll tell you what's happened to me. This week has been crazy! There have been a few deadlines for me to meet and I was able to meet them all YAY! But at a price. Sleep deprivation!!! I’ve been going sleep at like 4 everyday and then waking up at 8. I wasn’t a happy bunny I tell ya. However I was able to get it all done so I’m happy now.

On Friday I was able to go to The Comedy Store down Leciester Square and I’d recommend it to anyone. I was a bit sceptical at first cos I didn’t know what to expect but it was very good. Once again this made for another 4am bed time but it was cool.

So then you’re thinking, Saturday = lie in. WRONG! Not when you have a driving lesson in the morning. Oh well! I like to drive and have just recently got back on it after stopping during the holidays. Well not to worry I’ll get to have a nice sleep tonight then. Nope, wrong again! (you're not very good at this are you?) I’ll be going round my friend’s house tonight and getting my grubby mitts on the Wii. Last time I went to my friend’s house we were up til 8 in the morning just chilling and what not and I’m expecting the same to happen tonight, gotta soldier on I guess. I’ll give a review on it and its games in my next post. Anyways Xmas is only around the corner and holidays start next week! Can't wait.

Music....Back for the 3rd time

Hey! After a hectic schedule I thought I'd give you all an update on the music scene.
First of all big news. Jagged Edge have been dropped by the record label Sony/BMG since Sony decided to break up its Sony Urban division. Well maybe this is not BIG news seeing as Jagged Edge haven't had a hit since... well I can't even remember but it has been a slow news week so this is the biggest news of the week. I'm sure they'll get picked up by someone but saying that their last album entitled Jagged Edge was a major let down. Their style hasn't changed in years and frankly I'm bored of it and maybe Sony are too.

Following these lines it seems that one of my favourite music groups 112 are 1 man down. Daron who sings about half of the leads on all their albums has decided to make it on his own. Whether the other 3 members Slim, Mike and Q decide to continue as a group remains to be seen but they are all currently releasing their own material as well. This is a major shame as I think that their music is really good even though most people wouldn't agree. 2 of their albums, Room 112 & Part III, made an appearance in my Critical List found at the bottom of this page and saying that Part III may be my favourite ever album. Why don't you show me your opinion on the following question;

What would be worse? No more...
112
Jagged Edge

I will soon be reviewing Brian Mcknight's new album Ten as well as Mos Def's new album True Magic so be sure to look out for that

Also another reminder to check out the music player found at the bottom of this page (the grey box between The Critical List and the web page counter)

Kickz!

Hello again people!
Being a fan of trainers I thoguht I'd show you all some that should be available soon as well as some limited edition ones. I'm constantly trying to increase my collection but being a student that ain't easy. As it stands I have 13 pairs but then saying that I probably only wear about 5 of them regularly. The next pair I'm looking to get are the Air Force 1 in black and university blue thats featured in the slide show below or maybe get my friend to customise my own Air Forces.

Here is a selection of new trainers that should be available soon. First up we have the some white Air Force 1's which feature a crocodile print. The second image just shows limited edition Sony Playstation Air Forces which has been produced as a result of the release of the PS3 (good move Sony but these trainers are soooooo ugly!). Next up we have the AF1's in black with a touch of university blue. I don't know why but I quite like these even though the blue is a bit too bright for my liking. The next pic isn't exactly a trainer more an award that was presented to Damon Dash for his affiliation with Pro Keds. The idea to have a trainer with that many diamonds seems a bit silly but as an award I'd say its one of the most original I've seen. Finally, the signiture trainer of basketball phenom Lebron James. His last signiture shoe had at least 10 different colors and it looks like these new ones will surpass that. The basketball season has just started and I've already seen 4 different colors of these trainers. These are the all-star version of his trainers.

Show me some love

I've added a guest book to my blog which can be found in the sub menu on the right. I've started proceedings just to test it but I'd like you lot to put messages in there. Put in whatever you want. music requests, what you think of my blog....anything! Make sure you include your email so I can get back to you.

Erm....what else to put up on here??? I know;

Here's a streetballer from the And1 crew. His name's Air Up There and possibly one of the first ever to perform this dunk. He really knows how to throw it down and he's only 6 foot 2.
Here's another video:

I was fortunate enough to see And1 when they rolled out their world tour about 2 or 3 years ago and they passed through London. The place was packed out!!! The show itself was OK, some nice dunks, alley-oops etc. I remember at the end when everyone lined up to get their autographs some of the players decided to go early. I don't have the photos of the night here with me but when I get back home I'll create a slideshow for you.

Jokes

Even though my ipod is loaded with music I also have some comedy audio up on there. Sometimes for those really long journeys where you can't be bothered to create a playlist for your trip it may be easier just to listen 1 really long track, like a story. Maybe I shouldn't though cos of the amount of times I get those weird looks on the train from people when I just start laughing out of nowhere. Recently I've been listening to the Ricky Gervais Show podcasts which are pretty funny. He used to do a radio show with his buddy Steven Merchant and producer Karl Pilkington but then they decided to make podcasts. They've produced 3 seasons of the show which you had to pay for but now they've released a few one off specials for free. Head on over to The Guardian website where you can download them.

Here are some other comedy clips taken from The Chappelle Show. Be advised, these videos contain explicit language:

This is probably my favourite ever comedy sketch also taken from The Chappelle Show. The sketch is pretty long, 13 mins I think but its worth it. I present to you Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories:

Gadgets

Like any guy I like my gadgets. After looking on the 'net' for a while I stubmbled upon these new beauties by Samsung. The first is the F300:

The phone's features aren't anything too spectacular with 2mp camera, bluetooth, radio, blah blah blah but damn does it look nice. I think this phone beats Sony Ericsson in terms of music player/phones and by the looks of it seems to be the best alternative until Apple releases their much rumoured ipod phone.

Secondly we have the F500 which is more of a multimedia phone and looks similar to the phone above except this phone supports DivX. Yay!!! Now we can watch our favourite tv shows/films on the go:D

In other news Apple recently applied for a patent on this thing

Touch screen ipod???? Maybe. Hopefully this will come out soon but as usual Apple are tight lipped and we'll just have to wait until it comes out before we know anything about it.

Movie Update

Well I provided a music update so why not a movie update?
To start off we have a new pic of the web-slinging superhero SPIDEY!!!

Be sure to check out the trailer provided in the previous movie post.

Following the superhero theme we have:

Thats right Fantastic Four 2, hmmm sounds funny. Anyways the first film wasn't that great but was OK. This one has Silver Surfer so I'm immediately interested...oh and btw it also has Jessica Alba in the film so there's another reason to watch out for this.

Next there is a new trailer for Smokin' Aces which just looks sick! 'Cos i'm so kind just click right HERE to see what the fuss is about.

Another film, not so much a hollywood blockbuster like the others but this one features Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who you might've seen in Shaun of The Dead. This looks pretty funny, take a LOOK for yourself!

Finally a pic from the new Transformers movie. You can see singer/rapper Tyrese or Black Ty as he also likes to be known as, running for his life:

Musiq!...Again

It's been a while since I last posted anything music related so here's an update.

Firstly it seems that Bobby Valentino's album Special Occasion has been pushed back yet again. It's now scheduled for a release early next year which is a shame 'cos most of the album is already available in the right places if you know what I mean. Having heard alot of his new material i can say that his style remains very much intact which is a good thing and a bad thing. It's good cos it sounds a lot like his first album which I liked but then again it doesn't show much progression as an artist. A true example would be someone like John Legend who came with a new sound for his sophomore release Once Again.

Jeezy's back with the follow up to Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101. The new album titled The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102 is more of the same. I've given it a quick scan through and it sounds very similar to the first album. I won't lie, i'm more into my R&B rather than hip-hop/rap so i cant give a detailed review on this. I'd say i like the first album better but then saying that i only really liked 3 or 4 tracks on that album which doesn't say much about this album. Here's the video to his latest song I Luv It

Darien Brockington - Someone To Love. An underground artist that brings something fresh. This album is filled with R&B and has some really good tracks on it, my personal favourites are Don't Say Goodbye and More And More. Check it out if you have the chance.

My last album review is Ciara's new album The Evolution. The album is pretty solid from what I'e heard so far and alot better than her first in my opinion. She brings her usual sounds hooking up with Lil' Jon & DarkChild and the likes to produce the club bangers but then also puts in a few slow jams like her lead single Promise (watch the video above). Tracks that stand out for me so far are Make It Last Forever and Can't Leave 'Em which features 50 Cent.

Even after playing Lloyd's latest song for over a month now I'm still not sick of it yet check out the video
As well as that I'm still listening to Black Republican by Nas and Jigga. Anyways as for new tunes, this is what I'm bopping my head to this week:

  • Lil' Wayne - I Gotcha
  • Megan Rochelle - Heartbreak
  • Chris Brown - Poppin' [Remix]

TV

I don't really watch much TV except for sport, I mainly download stuff as most of the good stuff is shown in America months in advance. Good examples would be Lost and Prison Break. The Americans have so far had 6 episodes of Lost and so far they have been OK on the whole. The show is good but soooooo frustrating, just gimmie some damn answers instead of more questions!!!!!! On the other hand Prison Break is up to episode 13 and this show just keeps getting better and better. I don't wanna give anything away for any of the shows so I won't really discuss it but just check out both when they air over here although Lost is already showing on Sky One if I'm not mistaken.

And now for the main attraction!!!! HEROES

This show is sick! Its about these ordinary people who discover that they have powers, yeah very original I know but trust me this show's really good. You have the usual powers of mind reading and teleportation as well as others which I won't ruin for you.

Gaming

Today I've been able to play the latest version of PES on the PSP. Having only played it for a few minutes I can't give a detailed account of it but so far it seems very similar to the last version but this year they've implemented the Master League mode. So then is it worth it??? Maybe not, I've always found PES to be much more enjoyable when you're playing with someone else or with a bunch of your friends all at the same time. The PSP does have wireless connectivity but its just not the same. One game I would recommend is Lumines 2 which is a puzzle game. A new age Tetris you might say. I can't count the amount of times I've picked up my PSP to play this game and say "I'm gonna play for 10 minutes" next thing you know, I've just wasted an hour playing the game. Crazy!!! Image provided by www.play.com

In other gaming news the Nintendo Wii is just a few short days away from release and its lookin like its quite popular. Click HERE to see exactly how popular. This means that 2 of the 3 next gen consoles will be released leaving only Sony to launch its PS3, why dont you show me your views and complete this mini poll

Which next gen console are you most excite about?
Nintendo Wii
Sony Playstation 3
Xbox 360
Neither

Be sure to browse the previous post to play CurveBall, a simple but addictive game.

More things to look out for

Away from music other things to look out for are:

Yes it's still a long way away but Spidey's back for his 3rd adventure. Mr. Parker has been away for too long especially since the last few comic book movies that I can recall have been rubbish. However Batman Begins was pretty good especially if you've recently seen any of the old Batman films. I saw Batman & Robin again over the holidays....man this film is pathetic, it features Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. Jus to give you an idea of how bad the film was here's a line from the movie:
"Ice to see you"... Don't think I need to say anymore

Anyways back to Spider-Man 3, the trailer for the film was released just a while ago which can be found HERE

An older trailer was also leaked which shows that Venom will also feature in this film. Looks like Spidey has his hands full with Green Goblin, Sandman & Venom. Oh how will he cope? I guess we'll find out come May next year. Image provided by www.superherohype.com

Smokin' Aces. This looks pretty good so far.
It features Ben Affleck, Ray Liotta, Andy Garcia, Common and last but not least Alicia Keys.
It comes out early next year, check the trailer for it HERE

Image provided by www.imdb.com

Jack's back!!!! Yup come January time Jack Bauer returns for another season of 24, back again for another hectic day where he has to save thousands if not millions of lives. Season 5 wasn't as good as the others but still had some sizzle. Let's hope this next season doesn't disappoint!

B Ball

For those who don't know I love basketball. It's something I love to play as well as watch, even more so than football. I've been playing since year 8 and used to play at least once a week but since uni its been hard to get back on it.

Here's a clip of 2006 Slam Dunk Champion - Nate Robinson blocking Yao Ming....
Nate is only 5 foot 9, Yao is 7 foot 6. Click Here

Here's a clip of Lebron James pulling off a nice behind the back, off the glass dunk to himself during warm-ups the other night. Click Here

And so it begins....

The time has come for me to tell the world about....well me! 19 years in the making, its finally time to kill the suspense and give everyone what they want. LOL!
Erm...not too sure what exactly what will go on here but anything that does get posted here will be of interest to me so you'll get an idea of what I'm like if you're willing to stick around.
One thing I'm passionate about is music and so I guess I'll start with putting up my top 5 tunes right now and in no particular order i might add:

  • Bobby Valentino - Dance Floor
  • Lloyd - You (ft. Lil' Wayne)
  • Musiq - Buddy
  • Nas - Black Republicans (ft. Jay-Z)
  • One Chance - That's My Word
